Japan

My brief trip to Japan stands out as one of my most crazy adventures to date. From seeing the sunrise over Mount Fuji to gorging ourselves on conveyor belt sushi, it was incredible getting a sample of life in such a culturally rich country.

This journey took place at the end of what was an altogether insane semester in Seoul. Arriving in Korea, a trip to Japan was definitely on my radar; I mean, from where else would I be able to get cheaper tickets? Still, there was no way I could have ever envisioned that things would pan out the way they did. This trip was especially interesting because I didn’t have a phone for all of it. After a series of unfortunate events, I lost my phone, ID, and credit cards less than a week before my trip. Through some scrappy thinking and help from my friends I was able to still make it. With that said, all photo credits go to my amazing travel companions: Jade and Canda! Traveling with friends, specifically those that you can count on to have your back when things are low key falling apart, can lead to the creation of irreplaceable memories. To our own dismay, in one weekend in Japan, we managed to explore Kyoto and hitchhiked all the way to Tokyo. I still have so many stories to share about this trip, so stay tuned!
